Our story
From one boom truck to a full-service operation
In 2012, Chris Shaughnessy took a risk as a young entrepreneur and bought his first crane, a 35-ton boom truck. Coming from a family with over 100 years in the crane industry, he made a conscious decision to break away and build a company of his own, one focused on reliability, quality service and safety.
Today CJ Shaughnessy Crane runs a full crane, rigging, hauling and warehousing operation from five sites in Avon and Stoughton, all within a mile of each other and right off Route 24, and we still take on projects big and small across New England and beyond.

With quick access to the highway and a short commute to Boston we found a great location to grow

CJS purchases its third property on Bodwell Street, adding 50,000 square feet of indoor storage on about 6 acres of land

Turnkey, start to finish
Storage, trucking, crane and rigging from one team. Equipment is delivered and staged at our yard, trucked in when the schedule calls for it, and rigged into place by the same crew.
Planning and permitting
Dense sites, closed streets, tunnels underneath. We handle the lift plans, permits, and coordination with the local agencies so the pick happens on the day it is supposed to.
The right equipment, fast
We respond quickly with the crane you need, where and when you need it. Qualified riggers mobilize alongside the crane as needed so the job stays on schedule.
Real-time visibility
Our customer portal gives you access to each project, including lifts completed, deliveries made, and a full inventory of stored materials. Clear records, no guesswork.
